Upper Deck is honoring its longtime spokesman, and soon-to-be Hall of
Famer, Michael Jordan with a 1,170-card insert set chronicling every game ­
regular season and playoffs ­ Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls.

Donruss has signed basketball hall of famer Kevin McHale to his first trading card autograph contract. McHale’s first certified autograph cards will appear in the company’s upcoming Americana Sports Legends product.

The NBA reports that 300 hobby shops in the U.S. and Canada will participate in this year’s Starting 5 promotion. Merchandising kits for the promotion are now being mailed to stores.

The NBA hobby shop Starting 5 promotion kicks off Nov. 1, and 300 hobby shops are signed up to participate.

Playing off his world-wide appeal after the Olympics, Upper Deck is honoring its basketball spokesman with a commemorative set in 2008-09 MVP Basketball. 

The NBA's 2008 class recently got a behind-the-scenes look in the world of trading cards. However, many players were already familiar with collecting – and it showed.

It's not every day an Olympic gold medalist conducts a free clinic for kids, much less on the rooftop of a card manufacturer;'s headquarters. But LeBron James did, and Upper Deck was only proud to host for the company spokesman.
