Ozzie Smith restaurant to hold closing auction
Summary In the end, fans will benefit from the restaurant war between Ozzie Smith and Albert Pujols in St. Louis. Smith’s business, Ozzie’s Restaurant & Sports Bar, has closed its doors and is auctioning off its contents, including the sports memorabilia on its walls.
According to the St. Louis Dispatch, BCL auctions will conduct the sale at the restaurant this Sunday, which includes autographed jerseys from Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, Brett Hull and other big names, along with photographs and paintings of Smith doing his acrobatics at shortstop and a Big Red helmet signed by Jackie Smith. Another featured piece is a poster-sized reproduction of a Saturday Evening Post cover dating to May 15, 1954, portraying Stan Musial signing autographs from the dugout, which Musial also signed. There’s also an autographed photo of Enos Slaughter sliding across home plate to score the winning run in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series over the Boston Red Sox. |
